Trade Practices (public seminar)

This half-day course provides participants with an overview of their role and obligations in relation to trade practices alerting them to the potential legal problems associated with trade practices and to develop strategies to minimise trade practices risk.  This course is suitable for:

  • Senior management;
  • Line management;
  • Customer service staff
  • Compliance and risk management staff.

The course includes training methods such as:

  • an overview of trade practices
  • the role of the ACCC
  • anti-competitive conduct 
  • consumer protection (the Australian Consumer Law is here to stay!)

Learning Outcomes

After undertaking this course, participants will be able to:

  • distinguish between civil and criminal law and their application to trade practices;
  • identify conduct regulated by the Competition and Consumer Act and implement strategies to avoid breaches of the Act;
  • identify situations in which there is a risk of corporate and personal liability arising from trade practices breaches;
  • explain the essential features of anti-competitive conduct and how these features may arise during their employment; and
  • explain the essential features of misleading or deceptive conduct and other aspects of the new Australian Consumer Law and identify potential trade practices exposure for their organisation and themselves.

Cancellations

Registration may be transferred to another person up until the date of training, with written notice, and without warning incurring any additional fee.  Cancellations within one week prior will attract a cancellation fee of $200. Cancellations within 1 day of the course will require payment of the full course fee.
